It is ideal to use as it cancels out background noise and frees your hands for note-taking. Use a microphone-enabled headphone if you can. Remember to turn off the call-waiting feature and other notifications to avoid distractions. This lessens sound quality because of background noise. Mobile phones are good too, just don’t put it on speaker. Landlines tend to have clearer reception. If you are receiving the call at home, tell your housemates in advance. Choose an area/room where you can avoid interruptions and noise. Stay in a quiet and private place to receive the call. A phone interview can determine whether you will go on to the next level of the hiring process, so take it seriously. If the recruiter did not indicate the interview duration, prepare answers to more in-depth questions to be on the safe side.
